As I explore various positions in the tech industry, I find that my self-taught skills don’t translate that well to qualifications for positions. I am familiar with programming and have created a number of solutions, but I never created a repository of my work. I want to fill that gap and decided that Git and GitHub were the places to start as they are the most widely used tools for teams of developers.
I have used version control systems in my travels but never took the time to learn command line Git. I have a found a great way to get started through Microsoft Learn: GitHub Foundations Part 1 of 2 – Training | Microsoft Learn
And I now have my first actual repository, even though it is a test version at the moment and not publicly available. However, there are ways to share code from there with a feature known as a Gist. Here is my first code created during an interview process!
